Getting the Most out of Social Media

Over 2 billion people use social media every day. That's 31% of the world's population, making social media one of the largest and fastest growing industries in the world.

At Edward Robertson we use many social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. They each have their advantages, and have different types of users, so we use them in different ways to suit what we need. Here's what we do:

Facebook

Facebook is the largest social media platform, over 50 million businesses use the Facebook website. We use Facebook to keep in touch with people who have connected with us, to enhance our reputation and hopefully to find new clients. We post on Facebook in a lighthearted way - we take our work very seriously, but we don't take ourselves too seriously, and we hope this shows.

We track our 'like' rate and other analytics to help us to engage more with our followers.

Instagram

We use Instagram to connect to a slightly different audience. With it being such a visual medium, it's a great way for us to showcase new websites and to show sneaky peeks of what we're working on before a website goes live.

We can monitor our analytics directly through the Instagram app, so I can do it on the way in to work!

Twitter

We monitor Twitter to see what people are saying about us, and to post things that wouldn't fit on Facebook or Instagram.  For example, twitter has features such as a poll function which allows you to ask questions in a poll format.

We also track our Twitter followers and analytics, and see who our active followers are and who is inactive. Helps us to find out what works well on Twitter, and who we should be aiming for.

Social media is a fabulous tool which can definitely deliver measureable results. Whether you are a new business or have been around a while you should be using at least one of these social media platforms.
